Discover how standards are shaping the future of autonomous transport across road, maritime, and aviation

Autonomous systems are moving from pilots to deployment in road vehicles, ships, and aircraft. Yet every domain faces its own challenges — from proving safety and building public trust to creating the right regulatory and infrastructure frameworks. Standards are enabling industries to address these issues and share knowledge across domains, helping organizations move faster together.

This online session brings experts from across the transport spectrum to explore how standards can enable autonomy to scale safely, sustainably, and with public confidence.

Why attend?

  • Learn about recent progress in automated technologies across transport domains.
  • Gain perspectives on how collaboration can unlock cross-domains efficiencies, strengthen safety, and accelerate the path to future-ready autonomous systems.
  • Explore how standards drive progress, across a range of topics from safety to interoperability, cybersecurity, and human–machine interaction.
  • Discover practical lessons from domains that are further ahead — and see how they can apply to your sector.
  • Shape the discussion by sharing your questions with the panel in advance.

Agenda:

With over a decade of experience in automotive engineering, AI ethics, and standardisation, she has made substantial contributions to the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and the European Commission. Her mission is to ensure that AI is applied in a way that is ethical, sustainable, and beneficial to society.

Dr Palade’s work has earned her numerous accolades, including Automotive Rising Star of the Year 2024 (US Detroit AutoTech), Top 50 Women in Engineering UK 2024, and inclusion in the UK TechWomen100 and Autocar Top 100 Women in Automotive.

Matteo Novati
Matteo
Novati
Matteo has over 12 years of experience in consulting for the transport sector and is currently leading BSI’s Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) standards programme, in collaboration with the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV). The programme has mobilized the UK automotive industry for over five years, to develop standards and operational guidance.
Tony Boylen
Tony
Boylen
Tony is the Principal Specialist - Assurance of Autonomy at Lloyd’s Register. Tony began his Maritime Autonomy career in the UK Ministry of Defence in 2005. He led the conceptualisation and costing of the (Autonomous) Future Maritime Mine Countermeasures Programme, going on to deliver more than a decade of technology and capability concept demonstrators and autonomy procurement in evidencing capability potential.

Since 2019, he has been the LR Principal Specialist for the Assurance of Autonomy. In recognising the depth of the assurance challenge and the need for a highly structured approach, with cooperation with the National Physical Laboratory, he instigated and has lead development of the programme proposal of the Maritime Autonomy Assurance Testbed (MAAT). Building on LR’s unique capabilities, he is bringing together leading external subject matter experts to operationalise the highly advanced test and evaluation framework.
