Graeme Tunbridge

He has responsibility for BSI’s regulatory compliance to undertake a range of global certification and accreditation activities across medical devices, artificial intelligence and product certification. Prior to joining BSI, Graeme was Director of Devices at the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), where he was responsible for ensuring the safety and performance of medical devices in use in the UK. Graeme first joined the MHRA in 2011 and spent much of his time at the MHRA negotiating and implementing a package of measures to strengthen the regulation of medical devices. Graeme was a civil servant for nearly 20 years and spent his early career working on healthcare policy. He has previously held Deputy Director roles at the Department of Health and Social Care and spent 18 months as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health. Graeme has a Master’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Oxford.

Richard Holborow

Richard Holborow is the Head of Clinical Compliance at BSI. Prior to his role at BSI, Richard worked as a clinical physiologist for 16 years within the National Health Service (NHS) specialising in implantable cardiac devices and electrophysiology. Richard joined BSI in 2018 bringing his clinical expertise and passion for clinical data to the organisation. Richard is also involved with the working groups of the Medical Device Co-ordination Group (MDCG) for the EU.

Dr Dushyant Goordyal

Dr Dushyant Goordyal is an AI Service Delivery Manager at BSI, specialising in AI governance, assurance, certification and regulatory compliance. With over a decade of experience spanning AI innovation, medical devices, robotics and quality management systems, he helps organisations implement trustworthy and responsible AI practices. Dushyant has been instrumental in the development and delivery of ISO 42001 certification, including participation in some of the world's first accredited AI management system audits. Combining technical expertise with operational leadership, he works with global organisations to navigate emerging AI regulations, balance innovation with risk management, and build confidence in AI-driven technologies.

Lawrence Tallon

Lawrence Tallon is the Chief Executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). He was previously Deputy Chief Executive at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he led the Trust’s approach to strategy, technology, innovation and improvement. He has extensive experience across the healthcare sector in strategy and leadership roles, including within the Department of Health and Social Care alongside ministers and NHS leaders.

Lawrence is committed to patient safety and healthcare innovation, as well as life sciences and risk-proportionate regulation.

Professor Alastair Denniston

Professor Alastair Denniston is Professor of Regulatory Science and Innovation at the University of Birmingham and Honorary Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHSFT. He is a leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Health Technologies.

Professor Denniston is an NIHR Senior Investigator, Member of the Regulatory Horizons Council to the UK Government, Non-Executive Director to the Health Research Authority, AI Strategic Advisor to Health Data Research UK, Director of the NIHR-funded Incubator of AI & Digital Healthcare and Director of the UK’s Centre of Excellence for Regulatory Science in AI & Digital HealthTech (CERSI-AI). Advisory work includes to international regulators and ministries of health, and to the WHO. He is also the Chair of the MHRA’s National Commission on the Regulation of AI in Healthcare.

Vishal Thakker

Vishal joined BSI over 9 years ago and is currently the Head of the UK Approved Body for Medical Devices and IVDs. He is responsible for the regulatory oversight of the Approved Body and wider BSI strategy, policies, procedures, and documentation to meet the various legislative and designation requirements. Prior to his current role, he has been a Regulatory Lead, Technical Team Manager, Technical Specialist & Scheme Manager with expertise in Active Devices. He holds a Masters in Medical Engineering from Queen Mary University of London and has over 10 years’ experience with medical devices working within industry, third party testing and Notified/Approved Body. Vishal is also co-president of Team-AB, the association of UK Approved Bodies.

Rob Turpin

Rob Turpin joined the British Standards Institution (BSI) in 2001 and is currently Head of Healthcare Standards. He leads on the BSI standards strategy to support growth, innovation and regulation of medical technologies and data-driven healthcare solutions. Recent work includes the development of best practices to support the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the healthcare system, and his focus covers both UK and global markets.

Previously, Rob has been involved in managing national and international standards development programmes across a variety of subject sectors. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Teesside.
